Jermaine Jackson, the brother of the late pop icon Michael Jackson, has been sued for sexual assault and battery.

Jackson's music production and recording company were also named co-defendants by the plaintiff.

Jermaine Jackson Sued

According to People Magazine, a certain Rita Butler Barrett filed a complaint at the Los Angeles County Superior Court alleging Jermaine Jackson of sexual abuse, sexual assault, sexual battery, negligence, and even rape by Jackson.

The Jermaine L. Jackson Music Productions and Work Records, Inc. were also named co-defendants in Barrett's lawsuit.

Barrett said in the filing that the assault took place years after he knew Jackson already. The connection came about because of "professional and personal connections."

She also noted that her husband, Ben, worked with Berry Gordy, who Barrett believed to have worked with Jackson during the time she was assaulted.

The famed record producer arrived at her house in 1988 unannounced and forced himself inside her home. She alleged that Jackson had sexually assaulted her with "force and violence" and instantly left when after was "satiated."

"During the assault, Plaintiff, a woman of faith prayed to God for help. During the assault, Plaintiff feared for her life," the filing read.

Barret reported the assault to Gordy, but he allegedly "withheld and concealed the acts" that Jackson did.

Even after the inhumane treatment, Barrett pointed out that they were still able to gain profits from Jackson's work "for years to come."

She asserts that Jackson's behavior was covered up by Gordy and others to "prevent disclosure of information relating to the abuse for the purpose of profit and preservation of reputation."
