As previously reported, HBO has commissioned a handful of artists to rap about Game of Thrones. The project, called Catch The Throne, features tracks from Big Boi, Common, Wale, Kilo Kush, Daddy Yankee and more. The purpose of the mixtape is to promote the fantasy series to an "urban" audience, a demographic that includes African-Americans and Latinos. -

HBO has an interesting marketing strategy to increase the viewer reach of Game of Thrones. According to The Wall Street Journal, they've hired 10 hip-hop and Latin-music artists to rap about the series on a 10-song mixtape dubbed Catch The Throne. Among those they've enlisted are Wale, Big Boi, Daddy Yankee, Common and Bodega Bamz. The project will feature the artists rapping and singing about sword fights, fire-breathing dragons and more over beats made from samples from the show. It will be released for free online March 7. -
Common announces new album, 'Nobody Smiling,' in which he confronts violence in Chicago
Common has announced that the title of his tenth studio album will be Nobody Smiling. The name is a tribute to his hometown of Chicago, where Common hopes to take on the issue of violence. In an interview with Revolt, he said that the album was originally going to be an EP but was expanded as he wrote more and more songs.
