• Study Suggests 60 Percent of Touring Musicians Suffer Mental Health Issues

    A frightening study has come from Help Musicians UK, a charity dedicated to supporting up-and-coming musicians as well as aging ones, which claims that more than 60 percent of musicians it surveyed suffered from a mental health disorder of some sort. A huge majority of those suffering struggled with depression but that's still nothing to ignore.

Then in November of 2013 all of that publicity just came to a screeching halt with Simmons deciding to duck out of the public eye for a while. After about a year even those who had been close to him started telling the press that they were worried because he was shunning them as well. Things came to a head last night when the LAPD paid a visit to the exercise guru's home for a wellness check.

Think about it: The fitness guru usually turns up in support of some charity event in his tank top and short-shorts and we are all momentarily amused. Then there are the multitude of people whom he has helped with weight problems and self-acceptance, usually a new video or workout is available to keep them plugging along. Unfortunately, Simmons has been MIA for the majority of 2014, and it took until now for it to really click. TMZ is reporting that Simmons is suffering from a knee injury that will ultimately require him to have his left knee replaced. A source close to Simmons claims he is terrified of the surgery, but without it doctors have told him he will never exercise again. The fitness expert has apparently let the fear overwhelm him to the point of inactivity. Rather than take the necessary steps to heal his body, he has stayed hidden, growing more depressed as time goes on.

  • Hallucinations from Parkinson's Meds Likely Contributed to Robin Williams Suicide

    Three months after Robin Williams committed suicide, we are learning much more about what likely caused him to take such drastic measures. His autopsy results were released to the public last week, and they revealed that the actor had no alcohol or illegal drugs in his system at the time of his death. There was originally intense speculation that Williams had fallen off the wagon in his final days after years of sobriety. His wife Susan Schneider later attributed his depression to a recent diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease. According to a report by TMZ, Williams had also been suffering from Lewy Body Dementia, a condition commonly affiliated with Parkinson's. People with both conditions often have severe side effects to the necessary medication and hallucinations are common. Patients may see phantom people, animals or objects, and they often try to converse with the hallucinations.

Perry did a segment on Monday for Australia's "The Project" and in it she revealed that not only has she been depressed, but at one point she even was battling some suicidal thoughts.

    Nearly everyone was stunned to learn that Robin Williams had committed suicide last August. He never hid the fact that he had demons and spoke honestly about his battles with drug and alcohol abuse. Williams was one of those actors that seemed to embrace the struggle and always found his way through, somehow. At least until Aug. 11 when he was found hanging in his northern California home. A final autopsy report was released yesterday and its' findings were a bit shocking- there was not a trace of illegal drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of his death.
