• Genie Francis Has Returned to Iconic Role on 'General Hospital'

    Right on the heels of us learning that Anthony Geary will be departing General Hospital for good this summer, it has also been confirmed that Genie Francis is returning for another spin as Laura Spencer. Francis returns to the soap on a storyline dictated basis with her last visit lasting 5 months back in 2013. GH honchos have said the official reason for her return now is that her family needs her. Executive producer Frank Valentini has the tedious task of writing Geary out of the fictional town of Port Charles in a way that befits his nearly 40 years as a cast member. It makes sense that Francis would play a role in that.

    When Kimberly McCullough left her role as Robin Scorpio on "General Hospital" earlier this year, the actress said she wanted to branch out and focus on working on the other side of the camera as a director. McCullough took part in ABC's 2012-14 Directing Program, and it was just announced that she has landed her first real directing gig. McCullough will be directing an upcoming episode of "KC Undercover," Disney Channel's new comedy starring Zendaya Coleman. McCullough announced the news via her official Twitter and, ironically enough, she is not the only veteran soap star to decide to leave a plum acting job in favor of working behind the scenes. Allison Sweeney's final scenes as Sami Brady on "Days of Our Lives" aired last week, and after 22 years in character she, too, is excited to direct.
