    We have been hearing rumors pretty much constantly since "Fuller House," a reboot of the generational mega-hit, "Full House," started that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen would not be reprising their shared role of Michelle Tanner. Now it has been officially confirmed that when Netflix debuts the revival, the Olsen's will not be involved.

For 30 minutes last night the first 10 episodes of the new season were available on Netflix, ahead of the scheduled Feb. 27 official release. Even when the mistake was realized and the season was pulled some lucky viewers were able to continue watching. Was this brief leak an honest mistake, or was it a brilliant publicity move?

    New Year's Day is here, and what better way to spend it than binge-watching a favorite new show or, better yet, an old one? Fans of "Friends" are no doubt hunkering down for a marathon today because the popular sitcom staple of the 1990s has begun streaming on Netflix. Not only has the SVOD company acquired all 10 seasons, but it also has several lost episodes that have never been seen anywhere before. Apparently, near the end of the series's original run, scenes were filmed that featured Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) and Joey (Matt LeBlanc) actually giving romance a try. While producers eventually decided to keep them as platonic roommates, those alternate scenes exist and Netflix viewers will get to see them. It is not like the show has been completely under wraps since ending in 2004. It garnered an average 20 million viewers for each of the 10 years that it ran on NBC, meaning it has been golden in the land of syndication. TBS currently runs episodes nearly every day and so do several local affiliates across the country.

    It is kind of amazing how divided the United States is over racial issues, law enforcement and good ol' political agendas, but when a film studio gets hacked, it is fairly easy to get everyone on the same page — and quickly! Sony canceled everything in connection with its film "The Interview" last week, fearing that the group that has successfully hacked the company would make good on its threats of violence. Once it was confirmed that North Korea was responsible for the large security breech, the studio decided not to take any unnecessary risks and even the White House disagreed with the decision. First, Hollywood as a whole chimed in collectively, not wanting to feel like its business was being controlled by Kim Jong Un's regime. Then political leaders such as U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Newt Gingrich started rallying for the film's release. By this morning, Dec. 22, Sony started contemplating exactly what the best way to release "The Interview" might be. While the logical possibility was either video on demand or Netflix, some other companies might be more than a little skittish, fearing that they, too, will be hacked.

    Nearly every day for the last two weeks another woman has come out of the shadows to accuse Bill Cosby of everything from groping to full-blown rape. While his attorney is insisting that Cosby is nothing more than a victim of a horrific smear campaign, the industry is definitely fearing otherwise. NBC killed a new sitcom that had been in development and Netflix has shelved Cosby's latest stand-up gig that was filmed for them. At first, it was thought that Cosby's stand-up shows would survive these allegations, but many venues have begun canceling gigs into next year, indicating that the comedian may not come out of this with an active career intact. Late last week, Cosby did do a scheduled show in the Bahamas — and ironically enough the proceeds went to benefit a women's charity. The organization that he came out to support works with rape victims and domestic violence victims and provides counseling for both. No doubt Cosby was glad that this show went on because it made him look supportive of women's issues rather than an alleged abuser. What was appalling was that during this show Cosby found some crocodile tears for the slew of allegations against him and even joked onstage about his current battle in the public eye. "Parents are coming and taking their children home, saying to me, 'Bill Cosby, you are an evil man! We will never eat your Jell-O pudding again!'" said Cosby to an audience that thought his jokes were hilarious.

  • NBC Puts Brakes on New Cosby Comedy After Netflix Shelves Special Scheduled for Streaming Next Week

    It has been a devastating day for business in the life of comedic legend Bill Cosby. In the last several days he has watched as several old rape claims against him have been met in the media by a new rash of claims from women who have now gone on the record to tell their own alleged personal accounts of suffering at his hands. At first, Cosby's attorney simply denied that his client had done anything wrong and then insisted these old claims were baseless. But by late last night things shifted when the self-proclaimed world's first supermodel, Janice Dickinson, said Cosby had raped her back in 1982. Cosby's attorney came out swinging, but it was too late to save two new projects he has been working on. First, Netflix announced that it is shelving a special show Cosby had already filmed for it. It was scheduled to begin streaming next week and it is now on hold. If Cosby somehow pulls out of this scandal with his career at all intact, then there is a chance Netflix will show his special. Unfortunately, that is not going to be the case for Cosby's other deal. NBC was working on a new Cosby project that would have been executive produced by "The Cosby Show's" Tom Werner. In it, Cosby was supposed to star as Jonathan Franklin, head of a multigenerational family, who would use his humor and life experience to guide his daughters, sons-in-law and grandkids. It kind of sounded like an updated spin on the formula that worked so well 25 years ago. Unfortunately, it will never see the light of day because NBC has killed it completely.

    Netflix fans will be happy to learn that Season two of "The Fall" will begin streaming live on Jan. 16 at 12:01 a.m. The BBC Two series stars Gillian Anderson as Detective Stella Gibson who is hot on the trail of Paul Spector, a serial killer played to perfection by Jamie Dornan. What is ironic is that while the characters never once met during the five episodes of season one, the chemistry between them is still palpable. That means that fans have been left begging for the moment when they finally come face to face.

Series' like House of Cards proved that if Netflix offered quality original programs then people would invest in it. Given that fact it makes perfect sense that Adam Sandler would sign on for an exclusive four-movie deal.
