Continuing on her Piece By Piece Tour, Kelly Clarkson stopped at Nashville's Bridgestone Areana on Saturday where she belted out fan favorite hits, performed a medley with her 8-year-old son Seth, covered Bonnie Raitt's "Love Me Like a Man" and took some time to talk to and address the audience in front of her.
"We haven't toured in a couple years, because I got knocked up, and I'm knocked up again. Hey! We know how to do it, honey," she chuckled and told the audience, The Tennessean reports. "That was too much. You're welcome. My husband's gonna be like, 'Seriously?'"
It's safe to say that despite husband Brandon Blackstock's opinion, Clarkson's fans welcomed her candid conversation. At an earlier show, she even decided to drop huge news to her audience that she is pregnant. Her fans in Tennessee further relate to the pop star because of her down-to-earth persona and pipes of power, epically since Blackstock and Clarkson settled down in Hendersonville in 2013.
It may be a day of work for the 33-year-old singer but Clarkson definitely let loose, performing barefoot while singing "My Life Would Suck Without You." The American Idol season one winner's set spanned her illustrious career with hits like "Miss Independent" to "Mr. Know It All." As she introduced her latest title track to Piece By Piece, she lightheartedly thanked the few people who cheered in the crowd. Clarkson continued to detail how she grew up without a father figure and that unfortunately, girls with "daddy issues" fall for the wrong type of guy. Luckily, the singer didn't fall into that stereotype, telling the audience that she lucked out.
"I see so many people date people, and I'm like, 'Ugh, aim higher! You're gonna regret that one!' This song is for keeping the faith and finding the perfect match, and not just settling because you feel like you're old," she said.
Keeping up with the tradition of covering songs on tour, Clarkson took one night off from fan suggestions like Dolly Parton's "Jolene" and Nick Jonas' "Jealous" to perform her own choice of "Love Me Like A Man" by Bonnie Raitt. "I love a nice blues/country/rock (song)," she said. "All of those worlds coming together." She told her audience to check out Raitt's live version of the song. "The live version is so much better. And you can't say that about a lot of artists, let's be real."
Before leaving Nashville, Clarkson told the crowd, "We'll see you for Miracle On Broadway on the 18th, y'all." The "Since U Been Gone" singer's second annual Miracle On Broadway benefit gig will take place at Bridgestone on Dec. 18.
