Mac Miller has released his new album The Divine Feminine. Nearly one year after his third album GO:OD AM that marked a turning point in his career, the Pittsburgh native is back another LP that is heavy on features from the likes of Ariana Grande, Ty Dolla $ign, Kendrick Lamar, Anderson. Paak, and others.

Miller is now back in the spotlight with a respect from the hip-hop community and a celebrity relationship with Ariana Grande that will keep him in the headlines regardless of how his music career is doing.

That theme of love is what pervades throughout this album. He retires many of his stoner raps about having a good time, partying and smoking to something more personal, loving and sexual on this LP.

It can at times get a little gratuitous and repetitive as he can struggle to adapt to the role of crooner, especially alongside others adept at it as Ty Dolla $ign or Ceelo Green.

Anderson .Paak and Miller shine on "Dang!" that brings some funk and soul to the LP.

Though the LP is only ten songs, it still stretches out longer than a rap album that long normally is. Many songs run up to five minutes and there are two eight-minute tracks. "Cinderella" with Ty Dolla $ign speaks to a woman who he is deeply in love with and surprised to learn about her freaky nature in the bedroom, despite what she may say otherwise. It stretches with a bluesy section and then a slow piano ballad with just Miller.

"My Favorite Part" has added meaning now that Miller and Grande are dating, but it would be hard to tell if you just heard the song. There is some chemistry, but her part is at the end doesn't come across as a very important part of the track.

It ends with possibly the most anticipated collaboration on the LP "God is Fair, Sexy Nasty" with Kendrick. It is another bedroom tune that Lamar has shown he can easily hop on.

Speaking to Zane Lowe, Miller spoke about why he loves the song and the challenge of working with him.

"I don't want to go do a song with Kendrick and make a Kendrick song, what does our song like? It's such a feeling and a journey that's why I love that record."

Miller is clearly still growing into the role of making bedroom bangers, but it is a strong start into the arena and good transition between his easy-riding jams and those to procreate to.
