    American Idol has always been about making a superstar out of someone undiscovered, but for its 15th and final season, FOX enlisted one of music's biggest producers and rappers for his own shot at the Idol crown: Kanye West. After months and months of teasers and snippets, on Tuesday (Jan. 5), just one day before the Idol premiere, West's full audition with "Gold Digger" has arrived online.

    The very, almost too public saga fight between Martin Garrix, Spinnin' Records and its artist management arm MusicAllStars Management has another chapter. After some chatter over the summer and into the winter, where it appeared as though the matter over the rights to the "Poison" DJ's music was being settled amicably, the suit turned for the worst when Spinnin' presented their side of the story just before the New Year. Now Garrix is coming back with yet another statement, calling the recent remarks by Spinnin' "to say the least - one sided and in any case incorrect in some respects."
  • Goldie Awarded MBE By Queen in New Year’s Honors List

    Drum'n'bass pioneer Clifford Price, better known as Goldie, was awarded an MBE for his recording, film and charity work by the Queen in the 2016 edition of the New Year's Honors List. While musicians frequently top the annual list of honorees, the fact that the Metalheadz label co-founder has been named Member of the Order of the British Empire--and thus added to the history books alongside the likes of Paul McCartney and Elton John--is a massive accomplishment for the drum'n'bass scene and electronic producers and DJs in general.

    Italian up-and-comer Klaudio Lagji, AKA Greeko, has dropped a new deep house-inspired techno track called "Black Panther."     On Sunday (Dec. 20), Filipina model and actress Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was officially crowned Miss Universe 2015, after the title was mistakenly given to Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, first. Although the shocking mishap has been resolved, talk of the women sharing the crown have begun to circulate. Wurtzbach stopped by 'Good Morning America' on Monday (Jan. 4) to voice her opinion about the idea of being a co-winner, admitting she has no interest doing so.

  • 2 Live Crew's Luther Campbell Not Letting Kids Watch 'Star Wars' Because George Lucas Sued Him

    2 Live Crew frontman, Luther Campbell, is not allowing his children to see "Star Wars" because George Lucas sued him early on in his career. In 1985, around the time that 2 Live Crew first started playing together, Campbell DJ'd locally in Miami using the name "Luke Skywalker." While his name was not inspired by the character portrayed by Mark Hamill in the "Star Wars" trilogy, Lucas took offense to him using it as his DJ moniker.
