  • Brit Awards Lineup to include Arctic Monkeys, Katy Perry for Feb. 19 ceremony

The 2014 Brit Awards were just announced, but already the English music award show has two huge performers under its belt. According to BBC Radio 1, American pop superstar Katy Perry will perform at the ceremony. British alt-rock musicians Arctic Monkeys will also take the stage, performing (shockingly) for the first time.
  • Freaky Friday: Yim Yames (Jim James) covers George Harrison's 'My Sweet Lord'

Welcome to Freak Friday. Each week we highlight a new cover song that we're crazy about. Have suggestions? Send them our way! This week, we give you... Jim James as Yim Yames covers George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" on the 12th anniversary of his death.
  • Yo La Tengo, Ira Glass, and comedian Eugene Mirman collaborate on new Christmas song: “Toymageddon”

Although shopping malls and radio stations always jump the gun with holiday music, now that Thanksgiving is officially over, it's acceptable--In moderation. Luckily it doesn't have to be all of the same stuff we hear every year because there are new songs coming out this year (besides Bad Religion's new Christmas album).
  • Carrie Underwood, Rashida Jones and Jimmy Fallon give holiday makeovers to 'Wrecking Ball,' 'Blurred Lines' and more in new viral video [WATCH]

If there's one thing that "Late Night" host Jimmy Fallon knows how to do extraordinarily well, it's take the boring old celebrity interview segment and turn it into an amazing viral sensation. Yesterday (Nov. 28), the "SNL" alum welcomed guests Rashida Jones and Carrie Underwood. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Hannukah, Christmas and the Billboard Top 40 charts, the trio gave amazing holiday makeovers to some of the biggest hits from 2013. And, of course, the results are totally hilarious.

Hall and Oates fans, get excited. The duo has announced plans to start working on music again. Following the band's first-ever nomination from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, spoke with Billboard about what the future holds for the band.
  • Pepsi suggests new albums from Nas, Andre 3000 and Watch The Throne...but we have better ideas

Pepsi Pulse, a sub-site within pepsi.com dedicated to music, has listed five hip-hop albums that it wants to hear during 2014 (which is odd...based on what Pusha T tells us, hip hope is more of a Coke genre...sorry, bad joke). The list includes fairly stellar choices, but Music Times had a few others in mind we're more interested in. Our suggestions for three replacements:
  • Cage The Elephant allow fans to 'Come A Little Closer' with original artwork over new music video

Interactive music videos are all the rage these days, and now alternative rock band Cage the Elephant want in on the action. Earlier this week (Nov. 27), Cage the Elephant announced their own interactive video for their song "Come A Little Closer." The band's new Melophobia single was shot in front of a green screen and now fans can decorate their own clip online.
  • The Walkmen announce an indefinite hiatus, but solo projects are in the works

The Walkmen have been a band for 14 years, and apparently, that might be the point in which they call it quits as a band, but it's not an official breakup. Peter Bauer told The Washington Post, "We have no future plans whatsoever. I'd call it a pretty extreme hiatus."
  • Sigur Rós to release limited-edition 'Kveikur' box set

Sigur Rós have announced the release of a limited edition box set of 12-inch vinyl for their latest album, Kveikur. According to the item description, each of the nine pieces of vinyl comes with a flipside instrumental version.
  • Kanye West explains why G.O.O.D. Music artists aren't on his Yeezus tour

It has been a prolific year for G.O.O.D. Music with the release of Kanye West's Yeezus, Pusha T's My Name is My Name, and 2 Chainz's B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time. But as MTVNews points out, West chose not to bring any of his G.O.O.D. Music artists with him on his Yeezus tour.
  • Amazon is selling a lot of albums, including 'Yeezus' for as little as $1.99

If you like the idea of getting great deals for Black Friday, but you are still too stuffed from Thanksgiving or you just can't bear to think about waiting in lines and pushing your way through enthusiastic bargain-hunting crowds, you should check out Amazon, especially if you'd like to get some smokin' deals on records from 2013.
  • Jack White's Third Man Records release new Bumble Buzz guitar pedal

Black Friday shopping isn't for that faint of heart. In fact some retailers should probably consider requiring shoppers to wear helmets or other protective gear. But Jack White's Third Man Records has a special post-Thanksgiving special for the busiest shopping day of the year, and it doesn't require you to wait in line.
