When Springsteen returned to Broadway in 2021, he disclosed Adele's battle with Alzheimer's disease for a decade while opening up about the matriarch's influence on him and his siblings as they grew up.

"My mother loves to dance," he said in one of his Broadway shows, per Today. "She grew up in the '40s ... (with) the big bands and the swing bands, and that was a time when dancing was an existential act. She's 95 and she's 10 years into Alzheimer's and that's taken a lot away from us. But the need to dance hasn't left her."

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia, which causes mild memory loss and affects the overall ability of a person as it progresses.

Despite feeling the symptoms, Adele still reportedly recognized him.

Bruce's mom reportedly could not speak, stand or feed herself years after she learned about the diagnosis, but she often made a sound whenever she saw her son as if she was reportedly telling Bruce, "I love you."

The 74-year-old "Tougher Than the Rest" singer added, "This is an essential part of mom's spirit, it's who she is. It's beyond language and it's more powerful than memory. It's the embodiment. This is what she has put her trust in and lived her life by and which, despite all she has suffered, she carries on with to this moment, as if life's beauty never deserted her."

He ended his statement by expressing how much he loved his mom.

Springsteen said goodbye to his mother while honoring her. He shared a video of themselves dancing to Glenn Miller's "In the Mood."

Musicians and Bruce's colleagues paid tribute to Adele in different statements, including a tweet from E Street Band member Steven Van Zandt in which he spoke about Adele being a "matriarch of our family."
