Taylor Swift took her golden opportunity at the 2024 Grammy Awards to announce the release of her upcoming album "The Tortured Poets Department" during her acceptance speech.

However, the "Gorgeous" singer considered the possibility of losing her Grammy nominations and planned to reveal her upcoming album, during the first night of her "The Eras" tour in Tokyo.

"I told myself if I'm lucky enough to win anything tonight, I'm just gonna do it. I'm just gonna announce it. My backup plan was that I was gonna announce it tonight in Tokyo," Swift said during her concert.

Taylor Swift Began New Album Right After 'Midnights'

Elsewhere in her concert, the "Bejeweled" singer revealed more details about her new album.

"I've been working on Tortured Poets since right after I turned in 'Midnights,'" the singer revealed between songs during her "Evermore" set.

"I've been working on it for about two years, I worked on it throughout the US tour ...soon we'll get to hear it together," she added.

Swift has been performing back-to-back shows for the first leg of her "The Eras" tour in the United States and Latin America.

She will then be proceeding to have shows in Tokyo, Japan, followed by a series of shows in Australia, and Singapore, before heading out to Europe for 2024.

Taylor Swift Announces New Album at Grammys

Swift announced the arrival of her 11th studio album, "The Tortured Poets Department" during her acceptance speech at the Grammys.

"I want to say thank you to the members of the Recording Academy for voting this way. But I know that the way that the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans," the singer said.

"So I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I've been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand new album comes out on April 19.

"It's called The Tortured Poets Department. I'm gonna go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you. I love you. Thank you."

The "Cruel Summer" singer also addressed one important and constantly asked question: "Why do you make so many albums?"

"I'm like, 'Man, because I love it! I love it so much!" She said.
