This year's People's Choice Awards drew in a huge crowd of celebrities-in social media influencers, like TikTokers-much to the chagrin of netizens and Billie Eilish, who seemed genuinely surprised to see them there.

A video of the "What Was I Made For" hitmaker talking with Kylie Minogue about TikTokers has since gone viral.

According to OK Magazine, Eilish said, "There's so many TikTokers here," while Pop Crave on X (formerly known as Twitter) claims that the singer said, "There's some like... TikTokers here."

It is unclear exactly what Eilish told the "Can't Get You Out of My Head" hitmaker, but netizens agreed with her.

"Billie Eilish talking about the plague of TikTokes is hilarious," one wrote.

"There are actually some talented TikTokers but [I don't know] why they invite the bad ones lmaoo."

"TikTokers everywhere like a plague!" Another remarked.

Netizens Reject Influencers in Major Events

This is not the first time netizens expressed their annoyance aimed at social media influencers for attending red-carpet events in Hollywood and film or music award ceremonies.

After seeing the likes of Addison Rae, Nikkie Tutorials, Liza Koshy, Dixie D'Amelio, James Charles, and Emma Chamberlain at the Met Gala before, many protested and claimed that they did not belong there.

Others were extremely offended even more when Chamberlain likened the experience of attending the Met Gala to a high school prom.

"Actually this kind of feels like going to prom, because of the nerves," the influencer said. "You're not that scared, but you're excited. This is my prom experience."

According to reports, Vogue editor Anna Wintour addressed the influx of influencers at the Met Gala: "Part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, one that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it."

Netizens Back Up Billie Eilish

Netizens have repeatedly expressed their disinterest in seeing social media influencers at major events, and it seems like People's Choice Awards is newly added to the growing list.

"An Oscar winner shouldn't be in the same room as TikTokers!" One angrily wrote.

Meanwhile, others likened the situation to the Kardashian family, who rose to prominence following the release of their hit reality show, "Keeping Up With the Kardashians."

"A whole generation of people tried to blacklist the Kardashians for doing nothing and y'all go around making anyone famous."

However, while they were shunned from events like the People's Choice Awards, influencers were expected to abide by the SAG strike; they had their own guidelines, Vanity Fair reported.
