A woman's wardrobe has been something that many couples, even married ones, argue about. Whether they want their wives to become more liberated in clothing or conservative in nature, changing one's wardrobe can mean a lot of things, especially for couples who come from different backgrounds.
A psychologist analyzed Gwen Stefani's wardrobe change and how her relationship with Blake Shelton impacted it.

California-born Gwen Stefani seemed to have overhauled her closet to please her Oklahoman husband, Blake Shelton. The unlikely pairing of the two has become something that Hollywood has taken pride in.
The two met at "The Voice," fresh from their respective divorces, and became a power couple in the world of music.
However, as the years go by, the two have been plagued with divorce rumors and reports of falling out. Now, Fashion psychologist Professor Carolyn Mair told The Sun that Stefani's current wardrobe changed the once-liberated Californian rocker.
"Gwen has completely transformed her face, but her new clothes are frumpy," Mair described. "The combination of the aging clothes, young face, and big hair makes her look quite different and is a mistake."
According to Mair, Stefani's clothes and face are "incongruous," or not in harmony, because she looks younger today than she was 18, while her clothes look old-fashioned or "frumpy."
"The recent clothes look like somebody in their 70s or 80s would wear them with long sleeves, frills, and all this material. Her new clothes look suitable for an elderly person," Mair furthered.
Gwen Stefani Fashion Change: A 'Conscious' Choice?
She pointed out that Gwen Stefani's wardrobe change was a "big step away" from the polished pop star looks she had been known for.
The fashion psychologist even suggested that Stefani might have been "deliberately" trying to please her country-boy husband's aesthetic and conservative nature.
"It seems that Gwen is working on fitting in with Blake and the country music scene," she suggested. "Maybe Gwen is influenced by what is happening in her personal life with Blake. She could want to dress more coupley because they want to show they are a team. The other angle is that she might be trying to please Blake."
Mair even implied that Stefani might be making this "conscious" choice of revamping her fashion to "show him she aligns with his values and wants to fit in with his social group."

Stefani now looked like a country singer's wife rather than a pop/rock star, and Blake Shelton has reportedly suffered from marital problems lately.
