Megan Thee Stallion has begun a new era with the releasie of several singles before her new album drops. The rapper also opened up about her next project being a "rebirth" after being depressed following the shooting incident that took place in 2020.

The rapper appeared in a cover story for Women's Health. During the interview, she was candid and revealed details about her life after the Tory Lanez issue that the public didn't know.

"A lot of people didn't treat me like I was human for a long time... I feel like everybody was always used to me being the fun and happy party girl. I watched people build me up, tear me down, and be confused about their expectations of me," she said.

The "Bongos" hitmaker later noted that as a darker Black woman, the public expect her to "take the punches, take the beating" and other forms of violence with grace, but she clarified that she's only human.

Megan Thee Stallion Worked on Herself

Billboard reported that Megan is now working on herself to boost her healing process as she works out several times a week, which includes a routine of doing Pilates, going to the gym, and training on the beach.

Prior to this, the musician was "depressed" because there were moments wherein she would cry before she performed on stage because she was too emotional, but she didn't want to disappoint her fans.

Finally, Megan acknowledged that she needed help and sought professional counseling sessions.

She added, "I knew I wasn't myself. It took me a while to acknowledge that I was depressed. But once I started talking to a therapist, I was able to be truthful with myself."

In 2020, Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion reportedly argued during a pool party in Hollywood Hills.

At the time, the rapper was shot in the foot during the altercation. Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was found guilty of three felony charges.

Megan Thee Stallion's New Album is Inspired by Her 'Rebirth'

In other updates about the "WAP" hitmaker, she will release a brand new album this year, saying she was inspired to create a record about rebirth because she's now a new person physically and mentally.

The rapper has yet to share an official release date, but she has already dropped two new singles, "Cobra" and "Hiss."

"I was inspired to create this album about rebirth because I feel I am becoming a new person physically and mentally," she said of her next project.

Megan Thee Stallion previously had a hard time opening up her true self in her songs as she struggled to be vulnerable.

Fortunately, the rapper found her way into a better space by creating new songs reflecting her authentic self and the message she wanted to share.

Megan Thee Stallion Also Opened Up About Mental Health Struggles in Previous Song

This wasn't the first time Megan got inspired by mental health struggles, as she previously released the song "Anxiety" from her album Traumazine.

She shared in an interview with Apple Music that it was the most complex song for her because she wanted to experiment and try something different. (via Bustle)

The rapper then explained that the track was a song for herself and her mother. Although it was rough, she was able to go through it and get it off her chest.
