The feud between famous pop stars Taylor Swift and Katy Perry has been a topic of great interest.

Yet, with recent reports capturing moments of the two singers showing mutual respect and friendship, it became obvious that the once-feuding celebrities have gained momentum and reconciled.

In the wake of their highly-publicized reconciliation, Perry once more became the subject of discussion, this time in connection with Swift's latest album, The Tortured Poets Department.

When questioned by Access Hollywood about her thoughts on Swift's new music, Perry wasted no time confirming, "I have indeed listened to it, and it's making waves worldwide."

Even though Perry's reply appeared clear-cut, it failed to ease the doubts of social media users.

Katy Perry Criticized

Numerous individuals questioned the authenticity of Perry's claim that she had listened to the album, raising concerns about whether her words were merely a diplomatic attempt to avoid causing any controversy.

Moreover, the "I Kissed A Girl" singer's response reportedly lacked the enthusiasm and detail typically associated with genuine appreciation for an artist's work, social media users said.

Fans noted that her acknowledgment of The Tortured Poets Department's popularity worldwide seemed disconnected from the question, raising suspicions about her true feelings towards Swift's new album.

Some fans pointed out inconsistencies in Perry's past interactions with Swift, citing instances where Perry appeared less than supportive of her fellow musician.

According to one X, formerly Twitter user, "I can tell she hasn't listened to it and she doesn't like it. you can just tell."

Another social media user wrote, "The way she didn't want to say it's good cause it's BAD."

A third said, "according to sources she's forced to do this," while a fourth wrote, "Can you read body language. did you not see how forced that was. but whatever you want to believe."

However, some came to Perry's defense.

"y'all knowing katy she must've listened for real, like how many big name celebs actually mentioned a not-so-mainstream album track like 'My Tears Ricochet' as their favorite from folklore???," one wrote.

Another suggested, "I KNOW she relates to so many of the songs, like I can do it with a broken heart."

TTPD Records

This past weekend, music streaming platform Spotify celebrated a major accomplishment: Swift's album The Tortured Poets Department accumulated over 300 million streams within 24 hours. The standout track "Fortnight" made history by becoming the platform's most-streamed song daily, per ET.

Swift also reached a significant milestone by becoming the top-streamed musician on Spotify in a day. This achievement propelled her to secure the top three positions for the most-streamed albums in a day, namely Midnights and 1989 (Taylor's Version). Further highlighting her success, the album debuted as the most-streamed on Amazon Music.

In light of data from Billboard, the sales numbers of TTPD have soared to an impressive 1.4 million units on its debut day, eclipsing the previous record held by Swift's 1989 (Taylor's Version). This surge indicates a strong potential for TTPD to significantly impact the Billboard 200 charts, potentially securing Swift's 14th chart-topping album and positioning her alongside Jay-Z for the most solo artist No. 1s.
