Two weeks ago, Jack White’s keyboardist Isaiah “Ikey” Owens tragically died from a heart attack, resulting in the cancellation of White’s tour dates in Mexico. Today, White revealed that his Dead Weather bandmate and Queens of the Stone Age keyboardist Dean Fertita would be filling in for Owens on his upcoming tour dates, Consequence of Sound reported.
A statement was released regarding Fertita’s appointment, which read, “Although it is impossible to replace Ikey, the incredibly talented Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age, Dead Weather) will be joining the band to play piano and keyboard for all of Jack’s currently announced tour dates.”
In addition to playing with Jack White's band, Ikey Owens was also the keyboardist for The Mars Volta. He was 39.
