Garth Brooks returned to recording with Man Against Machine Tuesday, Nov. 11, making the release his first since 2001's Scarecrow. Now that he is back in the public eye, Brooks decided to join Twitter and Facebook to connect with fans, and "The Dance" singer's first-day numbers are pretty staggering.

According to CMT News, Brooks joined Twitter the morning of his album's release date, posting a selfie that currently boasts 2,141 retweets and 4,993 favorites. By Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 12, the country icon amassed 69,000 followers, which CMT figured out amounted to 45 followers every minute. As of today, Nov. 13, Brooks has more than 77,000 followers, but only follows nine people. Wife Trisha Yearwood and Brad Paisley made the cut, as well as actor Chris Pratt, Good Morning America host Robin Roberts — whom the singer brought to tears with a tender rendition of "Mom" — and TV personality Ellen DeGeneres.

Brooks and Yearwood had a cute exchange early on, wishing each other a good morning with some tweets: "'@trishayearwood: @garthbrooks Good morning, honey! Retweet me. :) @trishayearwood' hey gorgeous!! Miss you this morning. Get back to me:)," the response reads.

The singer also did a video Q&A with fans on Twitter, where he answered questions about the new album and revealed that his favorite Yearwood dish is mashed potatoes. His first 77 followers also received a signed copy of Man Against Machine.
