This was either a case of the thinking that any press is good press or somebody did not think this one through at all. In a compilation Punk Goes Pop 6 (there have been six of these ?!) released today, a hardcore punk metal cover of DJ Snake & Lil Jon's trap anthem "Turn Down For What" was included (via Spin). The covering offenders are Upon A Burning Body, who got Ice T to spit a verse or two in between solving crimes on Law & Order: SVU. The band rewrites the vocals, but keeps the same theme of turning up/down and general debauchery.

To make things even worse, the song has some cringe-worthy visuals. It takes place in some room with a bunch of small Kodak pictures of half naked women on the wall, one stripper dancing on a stripper pole and a group of guys who grow in number as the video rolls along. Ice T is awkwardly acting tough, spitting his lackluster verses about "turning up" and the opposite reaction of turning down.

Ice T should just stick to acting at this point or stay as far away from punk covers of trap songs. Really everyone should stay as far away from punk cover of trap songs. It is no good for anybody. The album also has covers of Pharrell's "Happy", Beyoncé's "Drunk In Love", Lorde's "Royals", Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" among other pop hits. The compilation is out now if you so choose to go check it out, but for now go check out the cover of "Turn Down For What" below.

"Turn Down For What" has pentrated deep into pop culture, getting a play by Alfonso Ribiero on Dancing WIth The Stars and most famously in a Vine by First Lady Michelle Obama.

If you can make it through the whole video, you are a champ.
