Win Butler -- indie rock icon and serial paper mache wearer -- felt compelled to release a lengthy statement about coffee this week. Why would he do that? Well, the Arcade Fire frontman just released his signature blend of coffee and related coffee accessories.

Self-serving? Think again. Butler's blend, titled RaRa, will benefit Partners in Health and the Haiti Coffee Academy, according to Radio.com.

Here is that statement we discussed (via the product's web page):

Being in the mountains of Haiti, it is hard not to think about coffee. The elevation, the sunshine, the soil, and incredible people, who have been growing the plant on tiny family plots for centuries. Haiti is buzzing with potential and possibility, and coffee can be an important part of its rebirth !

I'd heard about what La Colombe was doing with their coffee academy so I approached them to see if they'd make this coffee for me, because coffee is so important to Haiti, and Haiti is so important to me and everyone in the band.

Really happy to share this with you, especially with all the funds going to Partners in Health, The Coffee Academy and Haiti.

Enjoy,

Win Butler.

Important context for y'all: The beans come from Haiti, where AF singer, (and Butler's wife), Regine Chassagne's family is from. They have a song called "Haiti," and the country allegedly inspired their most recent album, 2013's Reflektor.

The 12 oz. packages are available for pre-order, with several options including Whole Bean, French Press and Turkish.

Butler's brother, Will, has recently undertaken a side project of his own. The younger Butler will release Policy on March 10, at which point he shall be in the midst of a North American tour.
