Rihanna has been chosen to receive the first-ever "AMA Icon Award" at the America Music Awards later this month. The six-time AMA winner will also be performing at the event.

"The first-ever Icon Award was created to honor an artist whose body of work has made a profound influence over pop music on a global level," producer Larry Klein told Billboard. "Rihanna's iconic and innovative sound has enabled her to become one of the most influential and best-selling artists of all time."

As Billboard notes, Rihanna's Eminem collaboration "Monster," off his latest The Marshall Mathers LP 2, earned the singer her 25th Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. This feat puts her on the same "all-time" list as Elvis Presley. The track also landed Rihanna her 45th Hot 100 single, tying her with Mariah Carey.

At this year's AMAs, Rihanna will compete in four categories, including artist of the year and favorite soul/R&B album with Unapologetic.

The event airs on NBC November 24. Pitbull will host the ceremony and perform his Ke$ha-collab single "Timber" along with performances by Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, TLC, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, One Direction, Florida Georgia Line, Miley Cyrus, Imagine Dragons and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
