Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello and System of a Down's Serj Tankian joined forces to pay tribute to deceased Ozzy Osbourne axeman Randy Rhoads. The pair decided to lay down "Crazy Train," the anthemic single from Osbourne's debut solo effort Blizzard of Ozz. The cover will be included on the new compilation Immortal Randy Rhoads: The Ultimate Tribute and features Rudy Sarzo, another Rhoads bandmate, and Vinny Appice, Rolling Stone notes.

Despite what you may think, the boys keep it fairly tame on the tune. The energy level does not quite match the original's, and Tankian's voice sounds off. Morello does not try to hide his signature style during the solo portion, but it is not a great fit for the tribute track. Check it out over at Rolling Stone.

"Randy Rhoads is my favorite guitar player of all time," Morello told RS. "It was his poster on my wall when I was practicing eight hours a day, and I named my firstborn son, Rhoads, after him. Serj, Rudy, Vinny and I rocked 'Crazy Train' as a sonic tribute to one of rock's greatest fallen heroes. Crank it."

Rhoads and Sarzo were bandmates in Quiet Riot before Osbourne poached the guitarist. He played on Blizzard, Diary of a Madman and a live EP in addition to two records with Quiet Riot before his death in 1982. He infamously died in a plane crash.

"He was like a lightning bolt that came into my life, changed everything, he was a wonderful, wonderful guy. He was a very patient guy, he knew what he wanted to do, he was very focused and he was just a true musician," Osbourne told Billboard in November. "On days off when we were touring, he would get the yellow pages and phone up a classical guitar teacher and have a lesson in his room every day. He was a special guy. I kind of knew, I remember saying to someone, 'He ain't gonna make old bones.'"

The tribute CD is due out March 3.
