Poor Kelly Clarkson... Despite being one of the most successful American Idol alumni of all time, two No. 1 albums, three No. 1 singles and a slew of awards, she can't get anybody to like her. In a new interview ahead of the release of her new album Piece By Piece, the "Heartbeat Song" singer revealed that she had a tough time landing collaborators for her new LP.

In an interview with BBC Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw (via Pink is the New Blog), Clarkson admitted that she would love to collaborate with some of music's biggest stars, including Lady Gaga and Adele but she repeatedly gets turned down for suggested guest spots.

"I honestly would collaborate with a lot of people, but everyone usually says no. I'm not kidding you. I have legitimately asked several people who I'm not going to call out. And that's cool, but I don't know," she said before being grateful that she got John Legend to sing with her on the Piece By Piece track "Run Run Run."

"I got John Legend to say yes, so that's cool. I ask good people, I don't want to sing with crap people, so I ask people who are great vocalists, but I'm not going to point out anyone. I have asked several people, but sometimes I feel like I have the plague, or leprosy, they're like, if I get too close ... I don't know. I feel like I am a very nice person that people would want to sing with. I can get country artists to sing with me," she said.

Indeed, Clarkson has had big country hits with the likes of Reba McEntire, Jason Aldean and Trisha Yearwood - which isn't half bad.

But, it seems like Clarkson can still hold her own. Her latest single "Heartbeat Song" is climbing the Billboard Hot 100, thus far peaking at No. 34.
