Incubus returned with "Absolution Calling" in February after a four-year recording hiatus. The single is off the group's upcoming Trust Fall (Side A) EP, which is due out March 24. That collection of songs will be followed by Trust Fall (Side B) and together they will make up the band's eighth studio effort. Incubus dropped a video for "Absolution Calling" in advance of the EP's release.

Brandon Boyd's vocals introduce the action as two rival gangs prepare for a brawl. "It's like an intuition or a feeling in the air/An intangible impression that's always everywhere/You bit into the apple, laid down your sword an shield," he sings. As the clip progresses, we find Boyd and Co. pitted against their rivals for an epic jam battle. Check it out below, via Rolling Stone.

Trust Fall (Side A) will be the group's first release on Island Records (they reached the end of their contract with Epic following 2011's If Not Now, When?). Boyd talked about labels with RS following the release of the video.

"We were lucky as a band in that the record label never lorded too much," he said. "But there was always this sort of phantom presence. We want to make good art. I don't think we'd make the music we make if we were lazy. So we don't need that phantom menace hovering over us at all times."

If Not Now, When? hit number two on the Billboard 200 behind the singles "Adolescents," "Promises, Promises" and "Thieves." The LP received mixed reviews.

"Just as Boyd's lyrics have gone a little soft, so Incubus' seventh album dilutes the hard-edged funk rock of their early-2000s peak popularity into slick, inert ripples of interchangeable power pop," RS wrote.
