Despite dropping two new albums last year, Prince has shared more new music in the form of the single, "What If?" The surprise track comes in advance of the soul guitarist's Hit & Run Tour, which kicks off this weekend in Louisville, Kentucky. Much like the track, the tour will consist of dates not previously announced.

"They say the truth will only make a fool of you," Prince sings on the slick new tune. The song features Prince's all-female group, 3rdEyeGirl, which played on his 2014 release Plectrumelectrum. "What If?" runs nearly five minutes long, and it's a radio-ready slow burner. Prince takes the lead vocal duties for the first act, handing the mic over to one of the 3rdEyeGirl members. Buckle up for the guitar solo at the 3:40 mark. Listen to it below, via Consequence of Sound.

Prince also dropped a solo effort, Art Official Age, last year along with Plectrumelectrum. Both albums received positive reviews, but Art Official Age ended up charting higher, hitting number five on the Billboard 200 (Plectrumelectrum reached eight).

"With these two albums, Prince returns to Warner Bros., the label where he made his Eighties classics, then rancorously left in 1996. Art Official Age is an attempt to get back to the violet-tinted pop mastery of the Purple Rain era. Plectrumelectrum is a set of exploratory funk-rock jams written with his new all-female band, 3rdEyeGirl. Guess which one you'll probably like best," Rolling Stone wrote.

Prince was less reclusive following the release of his two albums. The singer notably showed up at the Grammys to present the award for Album of the Year. He ended up giving it to Beck, but not before the crowd went wild after seeing the "When Doves Cry" singer.
