    Prince and 3rdeyegirl may have just released the albums Art Official Age and Plectrumelectrum in last September, but the prolific rocker and his bluesy backing band have already revealed plans for another new record. Today (July 24), the "Baltimore" singer announced the upcoming release of The Hit & Run Album.

    Prince and his all-female backing band 3RDEYEGIRL are back. After teaming up to release the album PLECTRUMELECTRUM last September and slaying Saturday Night Live in November, now the funk legend and his girls are back to mesmerize you once again. Today (Jan. 19), Prince and 3RDEYEGIRL released a dizzying, trippy new music video for their latest single "Marz."

    Although Prince attempted to remove himself and his music from the Internet a few weeks ago, the legendary artist is apparently still using the web to promote his latest albums Art Official Age and Plectrumelectrum. Today (Dec. 23), the Purple One has premiered the lyric video for his Plectrumelectrum track "Anotherlove," an amped-up cover of Alice Smith's song from her 2013 album She. The video combines plenty of swirling psychedelic imagery with clips from Prince's recent performance on Saturday Night Live with his new backing band 3rdEyeGirl, and in true Prince fashion, all of the lyrics on the screen are written in his signature shorthand ("4" instead of "for," "2" instead of "to," all that jazz).

    Among Prince's exceedingly long list of quirks is his aversion to the Internet, which makes it very difficult to find any of his music online. Although it appeared as if he was changing his stance on the Internet over the past year, creating a Twitter account and sharing some of his new songs online, that's all come crashing down today, Nov. 25, as The Star Tribune reports that the Purple One has deleted his Twitter account, Facebook page, and pulled many of his recent videos off of Youtube without warning. No reason has yet been given for this Internet blackout, but we probably shouldn't be holding our breath for one.
  • Prince Will Appear on 'Saturday Night Live' as Musical Guest on Nov. 1 with Host Chris Rock

    On his Facebook account, Prince announced he will be the musical guest on the Nov. 1 episode of "Saturday Night Live," which will be hosted by comedian Chris Rock. Included in the post is a photo of Prince with his band 3rdeyegirl alongside a photo of Rock dressed as the legendary musician — which is not the first time he has used an image of a comedian dressed like him.     Prince celebrated the release of wo new albums -- his solo album Art Official Age and PLECTRUMELECTRUM with his band 3RDEYEGIRL -- yesterday with a livestream special on Yahoo!. The 90-minute special focused on the history of his 65,000 square-foot Paisley Park estate as well as the collaborators who worked on his most recent records. Toward the end of the broadcast, Prince performed three songs and brought out Kendrick Lamar for one of them. Lamar dropped a new verse for "What's My Name," a rare track from Prince's 1998 box set Crystal Ball.
  • Prince Releases New Single "FUNKNROLL" From Upcoming Album 'ART OFFICIAL AGE'

    Prince's two new albums ART OFFICIAL AGE and PLECTRUMELECTRUM (caps lock intentional) are both set for release on Sept. 30, but today, Consequence of Sound reports that the legendary artist has shared yet another single from one of these albums. "FUNKNROLL" is the third single to be released from ART OFFICIAL AGE, following "BREAKFAST CAN WAIT" and "BREAKDOWN," and though it's not available for streaming, it is available for purchase over at Amazon right now.
