Taylor Swift may or may not have insured her legs for an absurd amount of money, but she's taking it fairly lightly based on her social media response to an attack from her cat friend, Meredith. The photo posted on Twitter by the vocalist showed a single, lengthy scratch running for several inches across her thigh.

"GREAT WORK MEREDITH," she wrote, caps lock for emphasis. "I WAS JUST TRYING TO LOVE YOU AND NOW YOU OWE ME 40 MILLION DOLLARS."

"I was just trying to love you" is a phrase familiar to nearly all cat owners, including your correspondent, as translation for "why are you such a jerk, the dog and the python never make me bleed when I try to cuddle with them."

The photo and caption were especially humorous for Swift, whose most recent hot rumor has been that she recently insured her legs for up to $40 million. The report stemmed from The National Enquirer, a respected source of Pulitzer-worthy fact, and repeated thereafter by E!, so who are we to disagree? According to their unnamed sources, Swift is looking to get her gams covered in time for her forthcoming 1989 world tour. Her legs and not, you know, her larynx.

"If anything happened to her legs, Taylor wouldn't be able to give her dynamic, signature stage performances," the source said. "She thought her legs were possibly worth a million...but $40 million shocked her. She's even a little embarrassed about it."

Then again, based on her preferences in footware, Swift's ankles are probably more likely than not to be the first part of her physique to break.

Although we jest, many celebrities, including Mariah Carey and David Beckham, have sincerely insured their legs.
