Yesterday (March 25), the One Direction fandom was rocked when founding member Zayn Malik announced that he was quitting the "Night Changes" boy band after five years. And now, new rumors are surfacing that he's not the only one with a desire to leave the group... could Harry Styles be eyeing an exit to pursue a career in Hollywood and a solo music stint?
If E! News has any say in it, the answer is yes.
It's well known that Styles has already been in the studio writing for other artists and recording collaborations that have been shelved. He helped pen Ariana Grande's My Everything track "Just a Little Bit of Your Heart" and he's also written and recorded an unreleased duet with Meghan Trainor.
And rumor has it, he wasn't to go solo. "He certainly has hopes of doing solo stuff, branching out on his own, and so this might be the natural juncture in which to do that," a One Direction "source" told E!
And despite admitting to being a not-so-great actor, Styles isn't opposed to taking the Justin Timberlake route and getting into some acting, as well.
"Harry has told his friends that the wants to get into acting. He loves Los Angeles," the source added.
Fans of One Direction need not worry too much about Styles pulling the same moves as Malik and leaving 1D before the band mutually parts ways. When One Direction announced Malik's departure yesterday, they promised to continue on as a four-piece through 2015 for a worldwide tour and a new album.
"We're really sad to see Zayn go, but we totally respect his decision and send him all our love for the future. The past five years have been beyond amazing, we've gone through so much together, so we will always be friends. The four of us will now continue. We're looking forward to recording the new album and seeing all the fans on the next stage of the world tour," the band said in a statement.
