T-Pain, real name Faheem Rashad Najm, sat down with Vulture to discuss his recently released mixtape, his evolution as a person over the past few years from an auto-tune only artist to someone who can show off his talents beyond the mechanized voice, and revealed what happened to the rumored Aaliyah collaboration that was set to be a part of his tape, The Iron Way. At the end of the interview, Najm coyly revealed that FKA Twigs, an artist who he looks to for inspiration had recently become secretly engaged to her movie star boyfriend Robert Pattinson. He caused a huge stir with these comments, which happened to come on April first and T-Pain probably deserves the award for biggest troll of the day after he revealed he was just messing with everyone.

T-Pain described what happened to his track that was to feature unreleased vocals from the deceased pop R&B star Aaliyah.

"The reason we held it back on the mixtape is actually because we got a call from her team, and they wanted to put it on her album. So that song's gonna be on her album, Aaliyah X, which is basically like her final album. It's full of collaborations and unheard vocals."

Later on in the interview he shared a tentative release date for his upcoming album Stoicville: The Phoenix — or at least a timeline he would like to release the album on.

"I'm thinking the end of September. I'm trying to drop it on my birthday [Sept. 30]. I'm probably 200 songs in right now," said the rapper.

Outside of music, the "Up Down" rapper will have a cameo in the upcoming Furious 7 film because he was hanging out with Vin Diesel and Tyrese a lot on set, which landed him a spot as an extra.
