Sean "Diddy" Combs is taking his creative talents to television. According to Deadline, the mogul is planning to executive produce a new animated series for FX titled Brightmoor. The show will feature the writing talents of Chip Hall (King of the Hill) and the comedic chops of Comedian CP, aka Chris Powell. The premise of Brightmoor has been described as South Park set in inner-city Detroit.

If Combs and his team execute this properly, it could be a big hit for FX. Currently, the network has only been able to keep one animated series going, Archer, which just wrapped its sixth season. FX did not have the same luck for 2012's Unsupervised and last year's Chozen -- they each ran one season before getting the ax.

Besides the writing and voice actors, the animation will be critical for Brightmoor. Using South Park as an example for the idea behind the show is great, but it also brings up a valid concern. The hit Comedy Central show used minimalist animation to its advantage for a majority of its 18-season run. Archer's animation has also helped set it apart from other cartoons.

While FX might not have the greatest track record with animated series, its original programming has been spectacular in recent years. The network received 45 Primetime Emmy nominations last year, up from 26 in 2013. Fargo took home the award for Outstanding Miniseries while comedian Louis C.K. won for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series.

Diddy is always working on something new, but his personal music career has been on the back burner for a while. The rapper dropped Last Train to Paris in 2010. Reviews for the album, which featured the likes of Chris Brown, Trey Songz and T.I., were mostly positive.
