Christina Aguilera may have played a pop star gone country on Nashville, but now the Voice coach brought that fictional world into reality. Last night (April 19), she was a welcome pop presence onstage at the 2015 Academy of Country Music Awards by performing alongside Rascall Flatts.

The unlikely duet began with a performance of Aguilera's new Nashville song "Shotgun," a tender ballad that shows rarely seen restraint from the powerhouse diva. After debuting the new Aguilera track, the ACMs got familiar music with the new Rascall Flatts single "Riot."

The tender performance made you wonder why Aguilera had never entered the world of country before; her voice blending together perfectly with lead single Gary LeVox's after he tackled the first verse and she the second.

Aguilera wasn't the only pop star on hand at the 2015 ACMs. Nick Jonas joined Dan + Shay onstage for a mashup of his singles "Chains" and "Jealous." New pop star Taylor Swift also attended to receive a Milestone Award.
