Grammy-nominated DJ Calvin Harris has teamed up with Jay Z and Will Smith to develop a half-hour HBO comedy series called Higher. With Harris' help, Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh is writing the script, which is set in the world of electronic music, according to Deadline.

Smith will serve as executive producer along with his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jay Z and others. Smith and Hova have previously worked together to produce the forthcoming Annie remake, starring Beasts of the Southern Wild actress Quvenzhané Wallis.

As SPIN notes, Higher isn't the first film in the works to revolve around the EDM scene. Last year, Diplo announced that he was producing an 8 Mile-type film about the genre, and the Sundance Film Festival recently debuted Under the Electric Sky about the 2013 Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas.

No details have been released on what the plot of Higher will be, whom they will cast or when it will air. We will keep you updated when more information becomes available.
