There was obviously some trouble with security at Summer Jam over the weekend, as fans without tickets started a miniature riot and got the New Jersey police to fire tear gas canisters into the fracas. Although it seems as if law enforcement was in the right for that case, rapper 50 Cent alleged that security inside the stadium was a little rough with himself and his G-Unit crew prior to them appearing with Chris Brown onstage.

The group was onstage to perform the tracks "What Up Gangsta" and "Many Men," and once they were done, 50 took the microphone to let the crowd know what was going on backstage.

"They ain't want to let us in," the emcee said. "They was patting us down like we had bombs."

If the security staff was the same group that was working Summer Jam at MetLife Stadium last year, they might have had some reason for concern. The group had reunited for the performance near Fitty's hometown of New York City, and apparently rapper Slowbucks was jumped onstage while 50 was performing, being robbed of his chain in the process. The G-Unit leader claimed not to have realized the robbery had taken place, although it's noted that the pair haven't lost any love for each other.

It seems absurd that figures as prominent as 50 Cent and G-Unit could be mistaken for questionable characters by security within a venue but unfortunately this isn't the only case of a performer getting the rough side of security at a concert where they were scheduled to perform. R&B performer Blood Orange frontman Dev Hynes was manhandled at Lollapalooza last year, an action the performer and his girlfriend Samantha Urbani allege was because he was a black man backstage with a white woman. Beyond ironically, he was wearing a T-shirt featuring the names of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner and Jordan Davis when the incident took place.
