Prince and 3rdeyegirl may have just released the albums Art Official Age and Plectrumelectrum in last September, but the prolific rocker and his bluesy backing band have already revealed plans for another new record. Today (July 24), the "Baltimore" singer announced the upcoming release of The Hit & Run Album.

The BBC reports that The Hit & Run Album will drop before the end of 2015 and will continue the precedent set by Art Official Age and Plectrumelectrum by being experimental and funky.

That is to say, if you're a casual Prince fan looking for the next Purple Rain, it's best to forget about The Hit & Run Album.

"It's weird, there's a lot of experimental sound. It's just hit after hit and definitely caters to those fans who just love to hear what Prince has to say, rather than wanting to always hear that classic Purple Rain Prince sound," 3rdeyegirl (comprised of Donna Grantis, Hannah Ford Welton and Ida Nielsen) said in an interview.

3rdeyegirl also confirmed that Prince's surprise July 1 single "Hardrocklover" is the album's lead single.

The "funky" new album is dedicated solely to the hardcore Prince fans, who are referred to as "The Purple Army" or "The Purple Collective," and the name of the album reflects that. The Hit & Run Album refers to a series of pop-up shows that Prince and 3rdeyegirl have been putting on for The Purple Army since the release of its two 2014 albums.

Full details surrounding The Hit & Run Album have yet to be revealed. However, 3rdeyegirl did say that the album's release date will be "soon."
