Looks like Ed Sheeran is headed back to his native U.K. for a forthcoming project--the "Thinking Out Loud" singer exchanged the mic for a chance at acting for his latest role in the impending Kurt Sutter FX drama, The Bastard Executioner.

The series already has a reputation of medieval gore and blood-soaked story lines that tell the story of a 14th century warrior forced to live a life as an executioner. Sheeran, who admitted his taste for Redwood Originals, will portray lethal apprentice Sir Cormac alongside a star-studded cast including Sons of Anarchy's Katy Sagal and True Blood's Stephen Moyer. Sutter will keep up with his tradition of appearing in his own series as he did in Sons and The Shield.

After tweeting his appreciation for Sutter and his previous biker gang series, the two eventually agreed on a musical collaboration. The x singer recorded a bluesy and soulful cover of Foy Vance's "Make it Rain" to be featured in the second to last episode of the series. Sutter previously bridged the gap between musicians and actors when he casted Marilyn Manson and Courtney Love for the final season of Sons, notes Variety. Brian Grazer and Paris Barclay pose as executive producers for the latest FX Productions series expected to kick off in the fall.

As of late, Sheeran was featured in a live episode of NBC's Undateable and plots to broadcast his special, Ed Sheeran: Live at Wembley Stadium, on the same network at the end of the summer. The 24-year-old has seen wild success in his career, quickly becoming a chart-topping artist. X hit No. 1 in 14 countries and exceeded 9 million in sales, eventually becoming the top seller of 2014.
