Kelly Clarkson posted on Twitter late last night (Sept. 11) to cancel 6 tour dates on her Piece By Piece tour after doctors reportedly told her to give her voice a rest so she could recover from vocal strain.  Also according to her Twitter, Clarkson plans to refund all the tickets scooped up quickly by fans at the price that they originally paid.  Full refunds may be small comfort for fans, but it is a generous offer compared to many performers' policies.

The cancelled shows are at the Filene Center at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia (Sept. 12-13), the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheater in Tampa, Florida (Sept. 15), Perfect Vodka Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, Florida (Sept. 17), Walnut Creek Amphitheater in Raleigh, North Carolina (Sept. 19) and Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden New Jersey (Sept. 20).

The vocal loss is just temporary, but her fans who are local to these areas are sure to be seriously disappointed. The pop star clearly feels bad about canceling, and posted to Twitter several times to apologize for the health issue.

Entertainment Weekly showed three separate tweets that read, "I can't wait to get healthy and see y'all back on the road soon. I hate canceling," "And I am truly sorry to my fans that have been excited to see the show" and added, "Please know that I never cancel anything unless it's absolutely necessary!"

It isn't the first time that the "Heartbeat Song" singer has had a vocal strain.  Back in June, following the birth of her daughter River Rose, she lost her voice and thought that her over a decade-long career would have to end. She stated that "Afterwards was the part where I literally had a moment where I cried and drank wine all day." Understandably, her powerful voice means a lot to the internationally famous singer and first American Idol winner.

Billboard reported that Clarkson will continue the tour on (Oct. 1) and perform at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, touring the U.S. until (Oct. 17) when the tour heads overseas. Clarkson has received a lot of press during its duration for her covers of Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and original country diva Dolly Parton.
