Kelly Clarkson continues to master cover after cover while on her Piece By Piece Tour. Following the tradition of each of her shows, the "Heartbeat Song" singer tackled the Selena Gomez hit "The Heart Wants What It Wants" and dedicated it to her fans at a show in Phoenix on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
The soon-to-be mother of two started off the performance by joking around with her audience and introducing "The Heart Wants What It Wants" as "one of my favorites" before launching into the heartbreaking 2014 hit.
Of course, with her powerhouse vocals, Clarkson gave the song a stunning makeover, adding in her own vibrato to the Gomez track and cutting high above the dramatic piano instrumentation. Near the end of the song, she explodes in to a massive crescendo, and it's hard to avoid chills while listening.
Clarkson's cover of "The Heart Wants What It Wants" is just the latest in her fan-requested series of popular song covers. During her nationwide trek thus far, Clarkson has covered everyone from Demi Lovato to Rihanna to Miley Cyrus and Nick Jonas.
Clarkson will continue promoting her new album Piece By Piece on her North American tour. The tour will run through Sept. 20.
