Justin Bieber may have seemingly shaded his fellow Canadian pop star Shawn Mendes earlier this week when he declared he didn't know who he is. But now, the "What Do You Mean?" singer is informed. After declaring ignorance, the comeback star finally gave Mendes' new Handwritten single "Stitches" a listen - and he approves.

Earlier in the week, it almost seemed as though a new beef between two teen icons was brewing. In an interview with a New York radio station, Bieber declared that he wasn't aware of Mendes or his music career.

"Who's Shawn Mendes?" Bieber asked in the interview. After being explained who the newcomer to the pop scene is, he promised to "check him out for sure," he said.

And though many interpreted Bieber's comments as a dis toward Mendes, it seemed as though he really was unaware of his music. He made good on his promise of listening to Mendes' stuff and proved it on his Instagram.

Bieber capped a play of Mendes' new single "Stitches" with the caption, "Shawn I checked out the music and I'm so proud! So glad to see another boy from Canada crushin it. #canadiansdoitbetter"

So there's some brotherly solidarity going on!

Mendes, who has been touted as the next Justin Bieber, released his debut album Handwritten in April. Bieber's new record, which has yet to be titled, will be released Nov. 13.
