The world was crushed when news broke about country stars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert divorcing. Despite going their separate ways, the two have managed to sustain a decent relationship between each other and still consider themselves "buddies." On Wednesday (Sept. 23), Shelton sat down for an interview on the Bobby Bones Show and discussed his speedy divorce and their "surprising" friendship.

After 10 years together, the 39-year-old The Voice judge and 31-year-old "Little Red Wagon" singer called it quits. The two got engaged in 2011 after six blissful years of dating. It wasn't until July 2015, the country power couple made the shocking announcement about their separation.

Within hours of their separation announcement, Us Weekly confirmed their divorce had already been finalized. Although they were able to keep the details of their divorce out of the public eye, fans were still surprised by how fast the whole ordeal happened. Shelton explained how the divorce process flew by him.

"In Oklahoma, it happens so fast," Shelton said on the Bobby Bones Show. "Like, Miranda and I didn't have any kids, and we had a prenuptial agreement, whatever we had. Once we filed for divorce, it was over in, like, I think it was like a nine or 10-day waiting period until it's over."

The former couple was often plagued with breakup rumors, but they never paid much attention to them. Luckily, there were no hard feelings, especially while they divided up their assets. In the divorce, Lambert was rewarded their Nashville property, while Shelton was given their Oklahoma ranch. Due to pre-marriage agreements, an Oklahoma judge was able to sign off on the property without any difficulty.

"We knew if rumblings and rumors started coming out, they would just be that. By the time anybody knew anything, it was over... It was done. Our whole thing was, we are going to be cool about this, it is what it is," Shelton recalled of their surprisingly friendly interaction in the days after their split announcement. "We're buddies."

So far, it's been smooth sailing for them. After being with someone for 10 years, it can be hard to completely remove them from your life. There hasn't been any talk about a reconciliation and neither artist has been confirmed as romantically linked to anyone since the split, in spite of short-lived rumors that Shelton was getting close to Gwen Stefani.
