Green Day's documentary Heart Like a Hand Grenade, premiered in U.S. theaters today (Oct. 15), and to help get you pumped, you can now watch a new trailer for the film where the band is shown performing their hit song "American Idiot" live for the first time.

The new montage is the second trailer released for the film, the first of which depicted mostly behind-the-scenes footage of the band's 9-month process of putting the album together. You can watch the latest clip below, the footage of which was recorded at the Olympic Auditorium in L.A.

The documentary, which was directed by John Roecker, is being called a "time capsule" for the 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees that "takes us inside the songwriting and recording process of their Grammy Award-winning punk rock opera" according to its Vimeo page, where you can peep the first trailer.

Speaking to Billboard, Roecker said in reference to the doc, "I remember trying to focus on filming them but also being hyper-aware of how the crowd was reacting to the song... It was a hold your breath moment for me and the reaction was incredible. We were in the studio for nine months, in this bubble, and now the music was being unleashed. After that, I knew it would never be the same again."

For those who can't make it out to theatres today, Heart Like a Hand Grenade will be made available tomorrow (Oct. 16) through Vimeo On Demand, with DVD and digital copies being released November 13th via Reprise Records.
