On April 1, Jack White announced the details of his second solo LP, Lazaretto, due out via Third Man Records on June 10 and shared the instrumental track "High Ball Stepper." Now he's come up with a creative way to drop the album's first single and title track.

Following other unorthodox release strategies such as tying singles to helium balloons and inventing the triple decker vinyl record, this time around he will produce the World's Fastest Released Record.

On April 19 at 10 a.m., White will take the stage at Third Man's headquarters in Nashville where he will record a live version of his new single "Lazaretto," direct-to-acetate. He will then rush the masters over to United Record Pressing, who will begin pressing 45s of the single. The sleeves will be printed with photographs taken from the show.

The finished record will be brought back within hours to Third Man for sale to awaiting fans. According to a release, United will continue to press and deliver them as long as there are fans in line who want them, "even if it takes all day."

Tickets to White's performance will be available exclusively to members of Third Man's Vault; however, the records will be available to the general public once they're pressed. They will only be available at the Third Man Store on Record Store Day.

The day's festivities will also include a 2 p.m. performance by Grand Rapids garage-rock band Whirlwind Heat, who are reuniting for the first time since 2006. Third Man will be reissuing their 2003 LP Do Rabbits Wonder? as part of Record Store Day.

The Ultra Ticket holders will get to watch White's live recording of "Lazaretto" as well as see Whirlwind Heat's afternoon performance. They will also receive copies of both The World's Fastest Record 7" and the Whirlwind Heat Record Store Day LP release.

Tickets for Record Store Day will become available at 3 p.m. today (April 3) on The Vault Pre-Sale ticket store. Sign up to become a member here.
