One Direction are looking to incorporate "You & I" into their single rotation. Even though "Story Of My Life" continues to be a consistent player on radio and in fans' hearts, today (April 11), the boy band announced their American follow-up track, fan-favorite "You & I."

The ever-popular boy band made the official single announcement on its Twitter, with member Niall Horan dedicating the song choice to its dedicated Directioners fanbase.

"so excited to announce that our next single is You and I. We're dedicating this one to you guys !!" he wrote.

The band mimicked the announcement in a short video, where Harry Styles spoke of the band's announcement.

In contrast to its first two American singles, "Best Song Ever" and "Story Of My Life," which were slightly more upbeat, "You & I" is a pure acoustic guitar-driven, softly sung song. Little orchestral musical swells round out the instrumentation, drifting just beneath the surface, as the five Brits sing their little hearts out.

To help counteract the relaxing nature of "You & I," 1D member Liam Payne made the "Big Payno" remix by basically adding EDM elements behind the vocal tracks.

To help mobilize the song and interact with fans, One Direction have announced a remix contest. According to the band's official website, fans now have access to the "vocal stems" from "You & I" and are able to upload their own remixes to SoundCloud. Payne will pic some of his favorites to boast on a One Direction playlist.

"You & I" is the third American single from the band's latest album Midnight Memories. "Midnight Memories" was released as a single internationally earlier this year.
