Katy Perry isn't the only pop star who debuted something slime green this week. Yesterday (April 10), Ed Sheeran revealed the cover for his second studio album X, and this is one bright green monster.

After releasing the album's lead single "Sing" on Monday, Sheeran unveiled the accompanying album artwork on Thursday via his Twitter. For an album simply titled X or "multiply," Sheeran continued the basics approach. The X album art features a bright green background with a simple block X in the center of the cover, looking somewhat from a printing press.

Sheeran is very much gearing up for the release of his follow-up to 2011's +. In just one week, he's announced and released the album's lead single, unveiled a full tracklist and now dropped some album artwork.

To further help promote his upcoming album, Sheeran will be the musical guest on this week's episode of Saturday Night Live (hosted by Seth Rogen).

The quick promotion is seeming to work for Sheeran. According to Billboard, the Pharrell Williams-produced funky track "Sing" is set to debut in the top 40 of the Hot 100 chart this week, making it a bona fide pop hit in its very first week.

X will be released on June 23. It will be his first musical effort since 2011's +, which spawned the massive hits "A Team" and "Lego House."
