Coldplay has paid tribute to the victims of the terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday (Nov. 13) with a touching cover of John Lennon's inspiring classic "Imagine."

Over the weekend, the "Adventure of a Lifetime" band was supposed to roll out new material from its upcoming album A Head Full of Dreams with a Tidal livestream performance. But instead, the band did a scaled back concert and opened up with a take on "Imagine" to pay homage to the over 100 people who died at an Eagles of Death Metal concert at the Bataclan and other terrorist attacks in Paris.

The Los Angeles concert was originally meant to be a big event for Coldplay, who were set to premiere new music from their forthcoming Dec. 6 album A Head Full of Dreams. But, in the wake of this weekend's events, the band decided to postpone the Tidal event until a later date. But, the show had to go on for their fans.

"Tonight's live stream for TIDAL & KROQ has been postponed out of respect for the terrible events in Paris... For those of you already down at the venue and those on your way, we'll play a short set of old material so that your journey isn't wasted," Coldplay said in a statement on its website.

The short set opened up with the acoustic performance of "Imagine," which was an emotionally wrenching tribute. According to Vuture, Coldplay also played "Sparks," "Yellow" and other old cuts.

Coldplay is just the latest act to pay tribute to the Paris shootings victims with a cover of "Imagine." A pianist has also gone viral after playing the peaceful protest song in front of the Bataclan.
