An advertisement for Supreme clothing has been popping up in Japan and France featuring Morrissey as the model wearing the brand's signature white t-shirt, but it has now become apparent that The Smiths singer feels shame over the fact that the company is sponsored by White Castle.

According to a post made to Morrissey fan site True to You, Moz has claimed that the photo in the ad, which has been surfacing via Instagram, was taken in October of 2015 and since then, he has discovered the information that the brand is indeed sponsored by "the beef sandwich pharaoh," White Castle.

"I apologise enormously for the enfeebled photograph of me issued this week by Supreme," Morrissey states. "I considered the photograph to be fit only for a medical encyclopedia and I pleaded with Supreme not to use it. This was before I learned that Supreme were sponsored in part by the beef sandwich pharaoh known as White Castle. Supreme were issued with a legal caution not to use the photograph and their fee would be returned. Evidently Supreme have ignored my lawyer. No safety within the corridors of law. Ugh."

"I offer excessive apologies for this association. Shame is indeed the name," the "Meat Is Murder" singer added in closing. The British rock icon, who has been a vocal advocate for animal rights throughout his career, has even threatened to cancel arena shows if the venues were to serve any meat while he was in attendance, so his latest comments about White Castle are nothing new.

Morrissey's latest work was his debut fiction novel, List of the Lost, which achieved the Bad Sex In Fiction Award for its criticized sex scenes.
