In late February, news broke surrounding the recent partnership between hip hop mogul Jay Z and the self-proclaimed anthem king, DJ Khaled. During a recent interview with Complex, DJ Khaled opened up about working under Roc Nation's management, as well as, his eagerness to collaborate with Kendrick Lamar.

Although he has already made a name for himself in the industry with chart-topping remixes and original singles, DJ Khaled is after way more. The 40-year-old Miami native also set his eyes on conquering social media. He became a notable Snapchat figure overnight with his inspirational videos, delivering the "keys to success."

Joining forces with Jay Z wasn't that farfetched of an idea. DJ Khaled admits he's been friends with Jay Z for a very long time and their relationship continued to strengthen as the years passed. The two came together for the 2015 hit, "They Don't Love You No More," alongside Meek Mill, Rick Ross and French Montana. They would often discuss joining forces on a project that didn't involve making music.

"So, it's only right I called Jigga. I was like 'Yo Jigga, let's make history together and let's take it to the next level," DJ Khaled told Complex. "Let's do big business. Let's secure the bag together.' So, I consider this as a partnership. Two moguls. And it's powerful. When you say 'Jay Z and DJ Khaled,' that's like powerful...He showed me not only is he my manager, he's putting his hand on my shoulder and saying 'Let's win more.'"

After signing the management deal, DJ Khaled was given the last remaining original Roc-a-Fella chain. Despite starting We The Best Radio through Apple Music (Tidal's rival), the two were able to bring their knowledge of the industry together and become a team.

DJ Khaled went on to reveal his plan of presenting Kendrick Lamar with a track he's really excited about, as well as, his dreams of one day working with Rihanna and Beyoncé.

He believes the track will become an anthem. DJ Khaled has remained in touch with Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), preparing for the right moment to send him the track.

"With the Kendrick situation, I have a record I want to present to him," DJ Khaled added. "And me and him we already talked a few times...And he said 'Khaled, send it over. I'm ready.' So, I'm about to send it over."
