Limp Bizkit will play four concerts in South America this month, as announced by vocalist Fred Durst and guitarist Wes Borland via the band's Facebook and Instagram. The tour includes stops in Argentina, Brazil and Chile as well as an appearance at Vivo X El Rock Festival in Peru.

Meanwhile, Bizkit fans patiently await further update on the release of Stampede of the Disco Elephants, the group's previously announced and supposedly upcoming seventh studio album. The Grammy Award-nominated nu metal band hasn't issued a full-length record since 2011's Gold Cobra -- Disco Elephants was announced back in 2013.

The band, often hailed as originators of the nu metal style that bubbled up in the late '90s and early aughts (along with contemporaries like Korn and Deftones), came to bear the brunt of criticism for the genre as novelty waned and backlash commenced.

Often labelled by music intelligentsia as the archetype of abhorrent bro-metal or frat-rock, Bizkit members maintain their sarcasm was simply missed. As Durst told Noisey in a recent interview, the nuance of their boneheaded caricature was usually mistaken for senseless clowning:

"The subtleties of Limp Bizkit; the satire. It's almost like it got overlooked. We put it in almost everything. We just didn't make it that obvious. It took its own life."

Borland agrees the band's diverse ambitions were often misunderstood. In an interview with Metal Insider, he spoke of the group's two disparate halves earning them a misattributed rap:

"I think Limp Bizkit has always put out a mixed message. Over the years, there have been funny things and there have been very serious elements. It is what it is."

Limp Bizkit recently made headlines as a result of internet hoaxes purporting the band's appearance at various unlikely locations. Last month, a Facebook hoax went viral after a prankster announced a bogus Bizkit concert at a Dayton, Ohio gas station. Today, a similar bamboozle made the rounds, falsely advertising Durst's presence at discount store in Morganton, North Carolina.
