Khalid Talks About His Debut Album, Songs

Khalid started his career in the music industry when he was 19 years old. He just graduated from high school last year, and instead of looking for schools for college, he ended up touring in the United States and certain parts of Europe.

"Tour was such a growing experience for me. I started it with a sense of anxiety about going out and putting myself in a vulnerable state on stage but after I realized that everybody in the audience knew all of the words to my songs I gained a huge sense of confidence. My performance capability grew through the roof," said Khalid.

During the same interview, the 20-year-old "Location" singer said that after each of his shows, he makes it a point to reach out to his fans. He said that he loves listening to their stories. Khalid wanted to become a music teacher so he could help other people through his voice. Now that he is a recording artist, he gets to help his fans through his songs.

Khalid released American Teen last year. The album features the songs "Another Sad Love Song," "Saved," "Coaster," "8TEEN," "Let's Go [Explicit]" "Therapy," "Hopeless," "Cold Blooded," and more.

When asked what his theme was for American Teen, Khalid said that the album is not about making a certain type of song. According to him, it is about embracing real life situations. Every single song in the album showcases raw and honest emotions.
