Oklahoma native Blake Shelton is liked in his home state. However, there is one person that is not happy about being associated with the musician.

A Mother’s Shock

People Magazine reported that 40-year-old Shelly Bryan Parker revealed that her daughter, Marley, borrowed from school something that was once used by the six-time winning The Voice coach. It is a classroom book called Look Away (Keys to Reading). Shelton used the book in 1982. This discovery prompted Parker to post the finding on social media. The media outlet also stated that Parker, who is a former teacher, was furious when she made the discovery.

Facebook's Take

Once Parker aired her grievances on Facebook, the social media website users began to react to this piece of news. As of publication, Parker's Facebook post received over 4,400 reactions and was shared over 7,500 times. While some of the commentators spoke how adorable Marley was, there was a significant debate over public school funding. Many teachers and parent-teacher organization members revealed behind-the-scenes drama when it comes to having inadequate supplies. Meanwhile, other commentators stated that there was nothing wrong with using a book that was over 40 years old and accused Parker of stealing her daughter's thunder for making this a political post.

The Oklahoma Teachers' Strike

Parker's Facebook post comes during the Oklahoma teachers' strike. Fox News has reported that thousands of Oklahoma teachers, students, and parents gathered in Oklahoma City in hopes of raising awareness regarding school funding. Also, Oklahoma teachers have asked for a pay increase. Some teachers stated that they had not received an increase in payment in over 10 years.

A few high-profile celebrities have offered social media support to the Oklahoma teachers' strike. On April 5, Carrie Underwood gave her sisters, who are also teachers, a shoutout on Twitter and stated how proud she is of her sisters' fight to improve the Oklahoma education system. In a 2009 advertisement, the "Two Black Cadillacs" singer revealed her mother is an educator.

Blake's Latest Visit To 'The Tonight Show'

The country crooner recently made a memorable appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He played a memorable game of Name That Song with host Jimmy Fallon. Shelton shocked the audience when he was unable to name his girlfriend Gwen Stefani's hit "Hollaback Girl."

He also shared a hysterical story about the time that he and Kelly Clarkson made Adam Levine cry during a New Year's Eve celebration. According to Shelton, they were pulled over by Oklahoma authorities and both he and Clarkson taunted the officer. However, the Maroon 5 frontman was genially petrified of the idea of spending the night in an Oklahoma jail and was in tears.
