SZA might have to take a longer hiatus from performing live. The R&B singer revealed that she might have "permanently injured" her voice.

In a series of now-deleted tweets, the 27-year-old lamented about her current condition and the possibility that she might have incurred irreparable damages to her singing voice. SZA has been suffering from swollen vocal cords in the past few months and even had to cancel a few live performances.

SZA Takes Time Off

Last week, she was pulled out of the TDE Championship Tour where she was set to perform alongside other talents such as SchoolBoy Q and Pulitzer Prize for Music winner Kendrick Lamar. She surprised everyone when she appeared in the tour's Madison Square Garden stop on Tuesday, May 29, to perform.

This, however, made her condition even worse.

"I just wanna be left alone my priorities are f***** up," she tweeted following the performance. "They been f***** up. I need space goodbye."

The singer also said that the performance on Tuesday night might have left some permanent damages to her beautiful voice. She did not specify if the diagnosis came from her doctor, but she deleted her tweets soon after without explanation.

The outburst comes a week after SZA also posted a message on Instagram warning fans that she would have to take a break. A message penned by Top Dawg Entertainment CEO Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith announced that the "Garden" singer will have to miss upcoming TDE Championship concerts while she recovers.

"I have to take SZA off for a few days on the tour," he wrote. "Her vocal cords are swollen and she have to rest her voice to prevent any permanent damage. We been monitoring her close and this is the reason she missed the Arizona and New Mexico dates."

On the caption, the 2018 Billboard Music Awards Top R&B Female Artist explained that she has been touring and performing live in the past 11 months. While she was able to control her swollen vocal cords with steroids in the past, the condition just grew worse, preventing her from performing.

She also said that if she does not take a brief hiatus, she might lose her voice permanently.

Last week, she also tweeted that she feels guilty over missing a few shows. She said that felt like she was letting the people she loves — her fans — down.

SZA has not given fans an update regarding her condition as of this writing.

Singers Who Damaged Their Vocal Cords

Last year, multiple Grammy-winning singer Adele also had to cancel a few performances to care for her voice. In a letter to fans, she revealed that she had damaged her vocal cords and had to take a time off from performing live.

"I had to push a lot harder than I normally do. I felt like I constantly had to clear my throat," she explained. "I went to see my throat doctor this evening because my voice didn't open up at all today."

Adele, The Guardian reported, had to undergo a delicate vocal cord microsurgery to fix the damage.

Sam Smith also had to press pause on his career in 2015 after suffering from vocal cords hemorrhage. He too had to undergo a surgery.
