Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood surprised concertgoers at Roundhouse in London Tuesday night when he played a new song called "Skip Loop" during a performance with the London Contemporary Orchestra.

This isn't the first intro to new material the famed guitarist has brought fans. Back in Febuary, Greenwood debuted a new song, "Loop," a London audience. Both songs are sweeping and purposefully repetitious, with Greenwood's guitar blending nicely with the orchestra. '"Loop" is slightly more dramatic and cinematic than "Skip Loop," however.

His solo efforts like these have centered on his classical work. Greenwood performs with the LCO playing his 2008 Academy Award-winning score for There Will Be Blood screenings. He recently announced that he will bring these performances to the U.S. for two nights with the Wordless Music Orchestra. He also is writing the score for Paul Thomas Anderson's film Inherent Vice and released a split classical album with The National's Bryce Dessner in March.

Greenwood and the rest of Radiohead will be reconvening in late summer to work on their ninth studio album, following a lengthy break in which each member pursued their own solo projects. As previously reported, the musician has already been emailing Thom Yorke song ideas.

In a piece he wrote for the Guardian, Greenwood cites playing with the orchestra as the catalyst for his changing viewpoints on live music. It will be interesting to see if and how that influence seeps into Radiohead's new endeavor.
